Blue Star: the new M-22

Here at Landsharks, we are proud to promote “M-22” as a symbol of Pure Michigan. In case you’ve never heard of Highway 22, it weaves along the coast of Michigan’s pinky (also known as Leelanau County), alongside national parks, lively lake towns, and the crystal blue waters of Lake Michigan – scroll down this page to read a bit more about how the highway evolved into an awesome brand that helps keep Michign beautiful!

But we think that there’s another highway that deserves some serious recognition, and it’s right in our backyard! The BluenStar Highway (A-2) is a 50-mile stretch of scenic drive that hugs the lakeshore from Holland to Lake Michigan Beach (a town south of South Haven). You might be thinking, what’s the big deal? What makes these lake towns different from the ones Up North by M-22? These towns are a totally different kind of breed – they embrace their home-y ruggedness, they have an appreciation for art and craft beers, and they aren’t afraid to get a little crazy.

We know you’re probably thinking, “Blue Star Highway…haven’t I heard that name before?” You probably have! There are over 100 highways nationwide that are recognized as Blue Star Memorial Highways – these highways are marked to pay tribute to the U.S. armed forces. So while we like to have fun along the Blue Star, we also appreciate the reminder of those who fight and have fought for our freedom!BShwy1
